Mrs Betty Sparks (right), age 90, passed away suddenly at St Augustine’s in Durban on 24 December 2014.

Born on 22nd September 1924 in London, she lived and married in London and settled in South Africa in 1957.

Betty was an art teacher for most of her life, teaching at Durban Girls High School, DHS and Mitchell Girls High. In retirement she lectured at the University of Natal and the University of Durban Westville.

She had a Masters in Art Education from the University of Birmingham which she completed in 1984.

She was a committee members and Chairman of the Durban Art Teachers Association.

She was a committee member and Chairman of the Friends of the Durban Art Gallery, a member of the School of Philosophy and the Shakespeare Society.
